Final Design vs. Digital Artists

This post explains how my final design has been influenced by the initial research I made into my digital artists.

My magazine creation has been influenced by the work of  Carbine and Emi Haze, with the colour choices mostly taken from the work of Alice Zhang. For my front cover, I felt that combining the profile mid shot with the intense colour coming from the holi powder mostly came from the work of Carbine and Alice Zhang. I was inspired by the their themes of surrealism and pop culture and really wanted to recreate the same style that they use in my own work. I wanted my front cover to also seem as though there was a fantasy element, with the colours providing an eye catching feature for the audience to pick up on.

Emi Haze was more so used in my double page spread design, as I tried to recreate his work with the double exposure shot with my own model. I used a professional software program called Enlight to create the double exposure with the holi powder bursting out behind my model.
I was really inspired by Emi Haze because a lot of his works link to nature and natural beauty, and finding elements of the real world, without mans touch, that are still just as beautiful. I chose to use the holi powder especially because of those same links to Haze's works. The origins of holi powder are made from all natural ingredients found in Asia and grounded by hand. By having this link in my own work, I believe that it has made mine a whole project a lot more culturally in depth and expressive to my readers.
